O Conselho de curadores do prêmio International de fotografia Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award (HIPAA) anunciou as categorias para próxima sexta temporada do prêmio, que vem sob o tema principal de “O desafio”. O anúncio foi feito em um comunicado de imprensa por sua excelência Ali Khalifa Bin Thalith, secretário-geral da HIPAA, onde ele salientou que o prêmio se aventura em novas experiências visuais através de uma abordagem corajosa que empurra os horizontes de inovação de fotógrafos em todo o mundo.
“Após cinco anos de trabalho artístico pensativo que suporta, refina e representa uma autêntica cultura da fotografia e aumenta a consciência de seu papel na construção de civilizações, juntamente com o reconhecimento pelo prêmio de inovadores fotógrafos ao redor do mundo, HIPAA continua sua jornada em sua sexta temporada, selecionando ‘O desafio’ como categoria principal para provocar o poder criativo, habilidades analíticas e capacidade de traduzir através da lente que desafio significa para eles, de suas próprias experiências na vida, e como eles lidam com isso em suas próprias maneiras peculiares, “Bin Thalith disse em sua declaração. Ele também acrescentou: “Você já pode ver que o HIPAA planeja evoluir e aproveitar uma nova era da arte visual que se baseia no conhecimento, experiência e conjuntos de habilidades que se inspirou em sua audiência em 193 países.”
Categorias de HIPAA: Portfólio / manipulação Digital / categoria geral (preto e branco)
Comentando sobre as três novas categorias, Bin Thalith afirmou: “com o tema emotivo e caloroso de felicidade, agora ouvimos um forte apelo no tema ‘O desafio’, que visa mobilizar nossas habilidades mentais, memória visual e criatividade para produzir poderosas e eficazes expressões visuais que vão além do simples foto formato e aprofundar ainda mais em uma seqüência de fotos que é completamente diferente em natureza e requisitos da única foto que tiro. Esta categoria de ‘Portfolio’ testa a história contando as capacidades dos nossos fotógrafos.”
“Em reconhecimento aos grandes saltos tecnológicos que visam libertar fotografias das limitações da realidade física por alterações e manipulação, HIPAA agora abre as portas para a imaginação dos fotógrafos, oferecendo uma categoria”Manipulação Digital”. No entanto, a categoria ‘Geral’ continuará a ser um espaço para fotografia criativa pura que quebra todos os formatos e as normas, oferecendo fotógrafos a oportunidade de navegar livremente em sua própria jornada de descoberta onde ninguém mais tem sido – seja através da fotografia a cores ou preto e branco. “
Thalith bin concluiu dizendo: “hoje, anunciamos o tema do desafio para ser a plataforma visual para todos os fotógrafos talentosos ao redor do mundo. Oferecemos-lhes a oportunidade de superar-se em uma forte concorrência.” Bin Thalith salientou a necessidade de participantes começar logo que possível, com suas entradas, dizendo: “Eu encorajo os participantes para começar cedo e seriamente com suas submissões, porque o tempo em si será um ‘desafio’ este ano. Ao contrário de anos anteriores, as entradas para esta temporada estão abertas de 1st maio para 31st outubro de 2016, em vez da data de fechamento habitual de fim-de-ano. Então, o fotógrafo tem seis meses para apresentar seus melhores trabalhos artísticos. O processo de julgamento terá início a partir de novembro para garantir que o tempo necessário para avaliar todas as entradas em nossas categorias novas e complexas; especialmente as categorias Portfólio e Manipulação Digital , que prevemos que exigirá esforços adicionais e tempo a partir do painel de juízes devido à natureza e complexidade da categoria.”
Secretário-geral do HIPAA compartilhou mais , “quando lançamos a nossa quinta temporada, sentimos que era hora de expandir nosso portfólio de eventos de fotografia para garantir que estabelecemos uma plataforma robusta para a fotografia na região, enquanto continuamos a nos esforçar no sentido de tornar Dubai um hub de fotografia. Com isto em mente, que nós entregamos não só outro Dubai Foto Fórum mais desenvolvido e estabeler um museu exclusivo temporário de fotografia representando 20th e 21st século da fotografia de todo o mundo. O Museu recebeu feedback positivo sem precedentes, mostrando que a região tem sede para a fotografia. Com isto em mente, nos pareceu necessário rever nosso calendário anual e continuar a evoluir introduzir ainda mais projetos para promover a criação e apoiar a nossa comunidade de fotografia. Então, mantenha suas expectativas elevadas, porque o que está por vir é ainda mais rico e mais atraente.”

The Challenge
Bold categories that push photographers’ innovation to new horizons
The Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced the categories for the Award’s forthcoming Sixth Season, which comes under the main theme of “The Challenge”. The announcement came in a press statement by His Excellency Ali Khalifa Bin Thalith, Secretary General of HIPA, where he underlined that the Award is venturing into new visual experiences through a bold approach that pushes the innovation horizons of photographers worldwide.
“Following five years of thoughtful artwork that supports, refines and represents an authentic culture of photography and raises awareness of its role in building civilisations, along with the recognition by the Award of innovative photographers around the world, HIPA continues its journey in its Sixth Season by selecting ‘The Challenge’ as the main category to provoke the creative power, analytical skills, and ability to translate through the lens what challenge means to them from their own experience in life, and how they deal with it in their own peculiar ways,” Bin Thalith said in his statement. He also added, “You may already see that HIPA plans to further evolve and harness a new era of visual art that builds on the knowledge, experience and skill-sets it inspired in its audience in 193 countries.”
HIPA Categories: Portfolio/ Digital Manipulation / General Category (black and white)
Commenting on the three new categories, Bin Thalith stated: “Following the emotive and heart-warming theme of Happiness, we now hear a strong call in the ‘The Challenge’ theme, which seeks to mobilise our mental skills, visual memory and creativity to produce powerful and effective visual expressions that go beyond the single photo format and further delving into a sequence of photos that is completely different in nature and requirements from the single photo shot. This ‘Portfolio’ category tests the story telling capabilities of our photographers.”
“In recognition of the great technological leaps that aim to liberate photographs from the limitations of physical reality by alterations and manipulation, HIPA now opens the door for the imagination of photographers by offering a ‘Digital Manipulation’ category. However, the ‘General’ category will continue to be a space for pure creative photography that breaks all formats and norms, offering photographers the opportunity to freely sail on their own journey of discovery where no one else has been – whether it be through black and white or colour photography.”
Bin Thalith concluded by saying, “Today, we announce the theme of Challenge to be the visual platform for all talented photographers around the world. We offer them the opportunity to outdo themselves in a strong competition.” Bin Thalith stressed the need for participants to start as soon as possible with their entries, saying: “I encourage participants to start early and seriously with their submissions because time in itself will be a ‘challenge’ this year. Unlike previous years, entries for this season are open from 1st May to 31st October, 2016, instead of the usual end-of-year closing date. So, photographer have six months to submit their best artwork. The judging process will commence as of November to ensure we allow the required time to evaluate all the entries in our new and complex categories; especially with the Portfolio and Digital Manipulation categories, which we anticipate will require additional efforts and time from the panel of judges due to nature and complexity of the category.”
HIPA’s Secretary General further shared, “As we launched our fifth season, we felt it was time to expand on our portfolio of photography events to ensure we established a robust platform for photography in the region as we continue to strive towards making Dubai a photography hub. With this in mind we delivered not only another Dubai Photo Forum but developed and established a unique temporary photography museum representing 20th and 21st century photography from around the world. The museum received unprecedented positive feedback showing the continued thirst the region has for photography. With this in mind, we felt it necessary to review our yearly calendar and continue to evolve so that we can introduce even more projects to further nurture and support our photography community. So, keep your expectations high, because what’s coming is even richer and more appealing.”

The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) is an internationally renowned photography competition. It was launched in 2011 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. The award enjoys a social and legal stature as a tool for promoting Dubai’s vision of artistic and cultural excellence.
